Saint-Rémy-de-Provence

Mas des Sources is a rare and secluded Provençale house on 5 hectares of natural park. You will be the only residents on site as we live abroad. The guest apartment boasts two bedrooms, living room, kitchen, a 15m x 6m private pool, magnificent gardens and sun terraces. Situated 25 mins walk / 5 mins drive from central Saint Rémy and at the entry to the Alpilles national park, this is a spacious haven that will enchant sun and wildlife lovers, walkers, cyclists and those seeking nature and calm.

The Space

The guest apartment in this exceptional property has two newly appointed bedrooms, each with own shower and toilet, a living room with lovely views across the fountain to the Alpilles mountains, a well appointed new kitchen and separate cloakroom. It has its own terrace with dining table and six chairs, two outdoor sofas and four sun loungers. Around the pool, there are two further large dining tables, sofas, ten sun loungers and outdoor shower. The pool is a salt water eco pool.

We come here to escape the bustle of the big city. It is a rare thing to find a home that nestles in sun drenched Provençale mountains with a fabulous pool and sun decks for sipping local wine….but also a short drive or walk into one of the most charming Southern French towns. Saint Rémy retains much of its charm as a town where French people live and holiday. There are markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays with sumptuous local produce and the streets are full of delicious bakeries, cafés, clothes and decoration stores. You can browse the streets, have a glass of local organic wine (most of it is organic in this region) on the pavement, then take in some of the sights – from olive farms, to wineries, to the majestic illuminated caves at Les Baux. In summer months, you can also find opera and classical music concerts in vineyards and in the Roman ruins at nearby Orange and Nimes.

Culture vulture, foodie, nature lover, sun worshipper – there is something for everyone here.

The apartment consists of 2 bedrooms, 3 beds, 2 baths and is suitable for 4 guests.  There are ample amenities including:

  • Air Conditioning
  • Dryer
  • Towels
  • Bedding
  • Heating
  • Iron
  • TV
  • Washer
  • Wireless Internet
  • Parking
  • Pool
  • Dishwasher
  • Microwave, etc.

Single level apartment, terraces, pool and gardens are all accessible. The main house is not accessible and will not be inhabited during your stay.

The house is easily reached by TGV to Avignon or plane to Nimes, Avignon, Marseille or Montpellier.

Mas des Sources is a 25 minute walk or a five minute drive into Saint Rémy.

Local Things to See

Saint Rémy de Provence is a historic market town with a lively market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The town is busy with restaurants and bars, narrow cobbled streets and pretty squares.

Other local things to visit:

  • Glanum, the ancient Roman ruins.
  • The Bronze Age caves in our garden – climb up the Mammoth Mountain to see the 2,500 year old petroglyphs carved into the caves, a notable historic site known as the Grottes de Baldouin.
  • Vincent Van Gogh’s room in the Saint Rémy sanatorium where he painted dozens of masterpieces.
  • Eygalières Friday market – pure Provence. 15 minutes drive away.
  • The beaches at Saintes Maries de la Mer, Cassis, La Ciotat, La Grande Motte, all around an hour away.
  • Arles – a swinging city of art that hosts the Photography Festivals and the Feria.

Saint Rémy is a perfect spot to launch trips to Italy and Spain, both about two hours away.

You would be mad not to stay here. It’s really beautiful and the pool is Brilliant. I love it here.

Le Mas Des Sources is a really special place. This idyllic house is ideally located far enough from Saint Remy to be a peaceful oasis, and close enough to walk or cycle with ease. Saint Remy has plenty of friendly restaurants and bars and an excellent supermarket!
The eco-pool is fabulous, blissful and luxurious, we could have spent our entire holiday in it very happily. The whole space allows you to relax in peace. There are plenty of things to explore within the grounds of the property, – take a very short walk up to see the ancient cave drawings that are part of the site, or wander about admiring the many amazing views, and visit the feast of large-scale artworks dotted about the site. There are also multiple seating arrangements all over the grounds you will never be short of a location for a tipple at sundown!
This luxurious and beautifully decorated apartment is very spacious. The kitchen has everything you could need as do all the rooms. The view from the large living room, of flowers and a fountain, and is wonderfully calming.
The owners of this property have literally thought of everything – and it shows. On top of that, everything is completely immaculate. This is the perfect destination for a super relaxing, chilled out vacation. We feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to stay here.

This is an awesome find. We had a fantastic week with our family. Our teenagers (aged 17 and 19) loved relaxing by the incredible pool, exploring in the prehistoric caves and dressing up to go for an evening stroll in the stylish St Remy, which is just a short drive away. The pancake cafe opens late! The location is stunning and secluded. We felt totally safe and relaxed, day and night. The accommodation is luxurious, modern, stylish and well equipped with everything you could need.
We have tried several Mas and this is the absolute best. The swimming pool is surrounded by beautiful sculptures and has perfect views over the Alpilles. The owners have created an extensive, breathtaking garden full of lavender and wildflowers. We all loved seeing the frogs and the huge variety of bees, dragonflies and butterflies that buzz around in the sun. There is even a real source flowing into a captivating fountain to remind francophiles of Jean de Florette.
All lovers of Provence need to see this place.

Spent a delightful Easter break here with the family. The place was everything we hoped and more and is very well equipped, including the lovely pool. You really know you are in someone’s home – the attention to detail is amazing. So much space in the grounds and your own private terrace with a wonderful view of the nearby mountain. You really feel you’ve got away from it all, yet the beautiful St Rémy de Provence is only a short drive away. I’ve been coming to Provence for 20 years & don’t think I’ve found a place to match this.

We had a wonderful stay and the guest suite is very comfortable and elegantly arranged. The living room has stunning views over the fountain and lavender fields. The terraces around the house are splendid with loads of comfortable seating and loungers. We very much enjoyed the huge pool, which has views across stunning olive groves. We rented bikes from Velo Passion in St Remy – a great experience and the bikes were delivered to the house. We enjoyed some wonderful rides in the mountains. We felt that St Remy was a great spot for a holiday – good markets, loads of excellent restaurants, sleepy cafes, charming squares, a perfect town. All in all a great house with a private, spacious and very stylish guest suite. The bottle of rose wine and delicious snacks were a thoughtful touch. We had a truly wonderful holiday and we hope to return next year – thank you so much James.
